Remind me not to love you

October 26, 2025

Remind me not to love you,
If that is what would keep me sane.

Like the doctor’s prescription, remind me
To take the forgetting pills.

Remind me not to water the pasture that wasn’t mine,
Let me conserve my blood and sweat.

No matter how much I cater,
Your heart refuses to grow the fruit of love.

Remind me how hard it is to win your heart,
So I won’t cross mountains only to be fed breadcrumbs.

My soul is weary, my muscles torn from the journey
Remind me that you can’t provide a soothing balm.

Remind me that you’re not mine to keep,
And release me from this doorless prison.
