THERE IS NO SPECIAL DAY FOR HAPPINESS

January 30, 2023

There is no special day for happiness
Nor is there a day set aside for sadness
The sun gives us the morning light
The moon only comes out at night

An unripe fruit shouldn’t leave the tree
An overripe one destroys the taste
Your blooming flower, I wait to pluck
A wilted one, I wouldn’t dare to touch

There is no special day or special moment
For us to express ourselves to those we love
The food is better eaten while it’s hot
A warmed food looks fresh but it’s not

The older the wine, the more it intoxicates
The older the person, the closer to their grave
Feed me with good food while I’m still alive
The flowers on my grave is not edible at all

I work for myself, not another man's so
I Watered the tree, I deserved the fruit
This night is a gift, a moment I hope to share with you
Don’t be stingy, let’s spend the night together

For a special night, I no longer could wait
What if you were snatched away from me
I can’t feed the lamb, for lion to devour
I dare not look my food in the eye, never

Open the passageway, give me the keys
Spread open the gate, let me enter with ease
A virgin land awaits, an uncharted territory to explore
Let me be the first on the map, and the last one to explore

Even if I shall pass through the valley of lust
I shall fear no evil
Let my staff, be the comfort that you seek
And my hands, your navigator

This poem is destined not to be finished
If you’re to shy to reply
It’s family trees cut off from the stem
If you’re unwilling to let me in
